Editorial Policy & Reading Time Methodology
How we calculate reading times, curate book lists, and research habit formation on pageward.tengrx.com.
1. Reading Speed & Page Time Benchmarks
Adult silent reading speed for non-technical prose averages between 220 and 260 words per minute (WPM) according to meta-analyses by Marc Brysbaert (2019). Because a standard trade paperback page holds roughly 250 to 280 words, we benchmark 1 page at approximately 1.1 to 1.2 minutes for fiction and 1.5 minutes for dense non-fiction.
2. Book Page Counts & Editions
Page counts vary across hardcover, trade paperback, and mass-market editions. When we list a book’s page count and estimated completion time, we reference the most widely circulated standard paperback or canonical ISBN edition and state the edition basis clearly.
3. Behavioral Science & Digital Wellbeing
Our guides on replacing doomscrolling with reading draw on peer-reviewed habit research (friction design, cue-routine-reward loops, and implementation intentions) alongside Apple’s native Screen Time architecture.
4. Human Review & Corrections
We use AI tools to assist with outlining, formatting, and translation. Every published guide, book table, and benchmark is reviewed and verified by the PageWard editorial desk before publication. Spot an inaccurate page count or citation? Email hello@tengrx.com.
